Harriman (NY) State Park - June 19, 2008

These pictures are taken along trails just south of Bear Mountain, New York. The first picture is looking north towards Bear Mountain. That's the Perkins Memorial Tower at the center, on top of the mountain. It's a stone structure open to the public, with 360 degree views.

Below, another view from the Appalachian Trail, looking southeast, down the Hudson River.

Once in a while you run into a deer

Aside from Bambi, my companions for the hike were Stu & Jake Bell, below.

Here's a good sign. From this point the Appalachian Trail continues south towards Georgia, and we head east in the direction of all of those destinations noted on the sign.

Jake's looking off towards Georgia, but that's about as close as we'll get today.
